People Amaze Me...

It doesn't matter which end of the spectrum it happens on, people never cease to amaze me.
Like the guy at the gas station that walks in and sees fifteen people standing in line, but still walks directly up to the register that noone is attending and puts his gas money on the counter, says, "20 on 5", and then walks away.  I get it...it's a simple transaction, and you shouldn't have to wait in line behind the old lady that wants 20 different types of "1 dollar scratch-off tickets".  But it pisses me off that it's 2011 and that asshole is still paying for gas with cash.  Get a debit card!!
I'm just saying people amaze me sometimes.
Or the lady at Kroger.  She rings me up, I swipe my debit card, I bag my crap and I leave a happy customer.  Then she tracks me down in the parking lot as I'm leaving to give me the box of Pop-Secret I left on the conveyor belt.  It's a small thing...she didn't have to do it... Could I have functioned without microwave popcorn for a night?  Sure I could've.
I'm just saying people amaze me sometimes.
Or the guy at the restaurant who comes to my table and says, "What can I get for you tonight?"  I begin to recite items off the menu, but stop halfway through the word "mashed-potatoes" because he isn't writing anything down.  Upon further inquery I find out that he is a genius and needs no pad and paper to remember a table's order.  So he listens to every person at our table and gives us a nod and a smile and scurries off to retrieve our meals all hinging on his ability to remember which items of food we want and which we don't want.
I'm just saying people amaze me sometimes.
How about the same waiter coming back and delivering our food and half of it is wrong.  And I don't think I have to tell anyone who knows me how much I despise Mr. Pibb... If I say Dr. Pepper and you bring me Mr. Pibb, you will be verbally assaulted.  One you should ask me if that is an okay substitute to begin with...
(it's not).  And two, the makers of Mr. Pibb should die a horrible death for causing me the trouble in the first place.  (maybe overly dramatic on the last part. Pibb developers were just trying to make a buck...can't blame 'em for that)
I'm just saying people amaze me sometimes.
When a group of people get together and go out of their way to make someone feel appreciated knowing full well there is no reward, no incentive, and no reciprocation other than knowing that they did something good, it baffles me.  Everyone should do that once in a while, it just makes you feel better the rest of the day.
I'm just saying people amaze me sometimes.
What amazes you?
